How do you count the time?
• Happy people do not count time – says a well-known proverb. However, they are aware of the value of time, we would add.Getting started
Watches similar to the modern ones became popular in the 16th century under the reign of the Tudor dynasty. However, at that time nobles were wearing watches on the neck. Later on Henry VIII began the fashion of pocket watches. Noble lords hang watches on chains and women wore watches on their hands.
Men “discovered” wristwatches only during the World War I because they were more convenient to indicate time without putting the gun down. The watchmaker Louis Cartier designed his famous model “Santos” for his old friend aviator Alberton Santos Dumont. Astronauts of the U.S. and Russia were wearing Omega Speedmaster watches during their mission to the Moon.
Combining style and function
The watches of the 21st century are used not only for their primary function. Today a watch is a way to express your own way of life as well as your way of thinking, style, and the originality of your personality. Have you ever heard about Clockpunk? This is a subgenre of a fantasy genre Steampunk which incorporates technology and clock designs. Undoubtedly, Clockpunk was mostly inspired by the works and drawings of Leonardo da Vinci. This style of esthetics has become more popular not only between fantasy fans; it can also be observed on the high-fashion podiums and in the style of everyday accessories.
A great example is cufflinks created in similar open mechanism style. They remind us that we have to value our time but still it is not necessary to count every second.
What do you think about these elegant cufflinks with a closed clock face?
Count time in a different way – choose cufflinks of various colours, sizes and designs with operating watch mechanisms.
